Join Sam Fason to explore a variety of habitats in the Granger Lake area.  Start the morning looking for the highlight species of the area, Mountain Plover and Longspurs, and recently Whooping Cranes. Visit woodland parks and county roads for other possibilities including: Short-eared Owl, Burrowing Owl, numerous sparrow species and waterfowl.  Stops may include Willis Creek Park, San Gabriel Wildlife Management Area and/or Taylor Park.  Sam may lead an optional extension to the area southeast of Thrall for Sandhill Cranes and other species, ending about 5:00 pm.  Please be prepared to carpool, share gas expenses and pay park entrance fees. Also bring lunch, drinks and snacks.  This field trip is limited to 12 participants so please register online. For further information contact Sam at
